Who we are …

BILL GILBERT MEAT MARKETING was established in 1994, initially to meet the needs of companies that had limited experience and/or resources in the sales and marketing of beef. Today, the expertise offered extends to other meat and associated products. 

Bill Gilbert himself has spent a lifetime in the British meat trade, beginning in a family butchery business - Gilbert's Butchers of Cambridge - stretching back five generations. Over the years he has built strong working contacts with the industry throughout the world. His knowledge of the retail, wholesale and manufacturing markets is second to none.

BILL GILBERT MEAT MARKETING demands the highest standards from its suppliers in terms of quality of meat. We look for succulence, flavour, tenderness and consistency in cutting specification in any meat we supply, in keeping with the requirements of a discriminating UK-based clientele. 

Our involvement with both ends of the supply process gives us a unique and unbiased perspective on the meat industry. Above all, it enables us to deliver a seamless experience linking all elements in the chain.

● In effect, we act as a marketing co-ordinator on behalf of overseas companies which may not have the capacity, resources or experience to handle their own marketing in the UK. 

● We offer a reliable route through which overseas suppliers can establish a presence in the UK - and one which, because it does not involve a major investment of money, time or personnel, can be supremely cost-effective for the suppliers concerned. 

● In order to give our full attention to building up the quality image of their product, we deal with only a small number of quality suppliers. All suppliers must meet HACCP and EFSIS regulations, together with full traceability and hold accreditations acceptable in the UK or equivalent European standards.

The company's track record includes marketing and development of a leading Irish Beef brand to the manufacturing and catering industry on behalf of an Irish Beef processor - including the supply of steak to a major international airline and a leading international restaurant in London. 

Lamb and sheep skins
Drawing on the company's experience and contacts in the abattoir industry, we have also sourced lamb and sheep skins from Ireland and the UK for major International fellmongers.
